How COVID-19 is affecting Canadian immigration?
All clients and anyone intending to enter Canada are advised to please check up-to-date travel advisories and restrictions, travel only when it is absolutely necessary.
Canada has imposed travel restrictions on people entering the country, and Canadian Border Services will assess the health of everyone upon arrival in Canada. Please note that each province/territory has its own travel restrictions, so while someone may be allowed to enter Canada, they may not be able to travel to their destination province. Anyone who travels internationally is subject to a mandatory 14-day self-isolation period upon entering Canada, even if they show no symptoms. All travelers age 5 and over must now show a negative COVID-19 test result (the test must be taken within the last 72 hours) before boarding a flight to Canada.
People who have received visitor visas, Work Permits, Permanent Resident Visas, etc., are encouraged NOT to travel at this time unless it is essential. Traveling solely to activate a visa is NOT considered an essential reason to travel. Rather, people are encouraged to attend landing appointments by phone and to extend their visas until it is safe to travel.
